The question is flawed, foolish. As long as we start with, "Is there proof of God's existence?" we will end with "There is no proof of God's existence or proof of God's non-existence." The demand for proof, for evidence, cannot be applied in this domain (as it can be applied, say, in the search for extraterrestrial life or a cure for cancer). Proof, like faith, is useless in this matter. An inquiry into the existence of God is an exploration of concepts that necessarily function prior to the status and arrangement of "things" in the universe.
Whether we use "God" to mean (a) an absolutely infinite being, or (b) an incredibly powerful creature who created the universe - we are in both cases addressing a phenomenon that admits of no evidential critique. An infinite being is both infinitely related with, and infinitely divorced from, all finite things. A creator of Everything leaves no necessary trace on anything. All evidence, all PROOF, must relate to some other aspect of the manifested universe.
The prompt of this article is in the form: "Proof that that which is prior to existence does not exist." It is utterly nonsensical. It has substance only in a society so cut off from its inner feeling that it compulsively engages in endless variants of the same un-ending discussions. One either offers one's opinion and feels subjectively validated by the act of self-expression, or one is simply a discourse-junkie whose broken mind derives a paltry delight from endlessly chasing its own tail through the standard, superficial matrix of social "religious questions."
In that respect, I am GUILTY of this article.
At least I can promise that I will not make either of the most naive and embarassing mistakes:
1. I will not disregard God because there is a 'lack of objective proof.'
2. I will not pathetically assert that intelligent design requires an intelligent designer.
Both of these attitudes usually signal that an article is not worth reading. This article of mine can be only of symbolic value - and only for those who are complex enough and sensitive enough to despair of the popular alternatives. God is not a matter of either proof or opinion, evidence or belief.
In fact, THE EXISTENCE OF GOD IS SO LIKE THE NON-EXISTENCE OF GOD that one must either be prepared to have a living relationship with the inconceivable OR crawl back under the rock of futile debate.
