Air, Water, Food, Waste and Decentralization
Water doesn't leave this planet (essentially nothing leaves). In thousands of years, unless we vapourize the entire globe through our ignorance, there will still be the same total quantity of water (and everything else) here on earth. So, if we say that we have a guaranteed supply of water for eternity, all we need to do is look after the quality of the water. Nature (without mankind) has almost always provided fresh water for plants and animals through the process of distillation, evaporating water from the oceans, lakes, rivers and land, and recondensing it as it cools to fall as rain or snow. This is a very good system as long as the condensed water (distillate) is not contaminated with air-borne pollutants. This has worked for millennia. For man to operate an equivalent distillation plant, incredible quantities of energy would be required. Nature has provided the raw material, the obvious means and the energy (sunshine) to keep this happening naturally on a massive scale.
The problem with clean drinking water availability is tied inexorably to the clean air that we need to breathe. In order of importance, the basic requirements for life are:1.clean air2.clean water3.foodEach of these directly effects the next requirement. If we keep our air clean, this will ensure clean rain water, which will provide for good food production and human survival. So it is of paramount importance that we keep our air clean first, as this will effect everything farther down the line. Clean water relies on clean air.
Money, possessions, power these are the primary forces that drive man to incessantly deplete natural resources in areas of abundance, thereby creating another place that will eventually be uninhabitable, polluting air, water and earth in the process. The root of the problem exists in the belief system of man. When on one's deathbed, no quantity of wealth or power will provide immortality. Those aspects of life that we hold dear at the "tail end" of life are the "important" things in life, and these are not money, possessions or power. If we could understand and accept this point of view much earlier in life, then perhaps the ridiculous striving for more of everything would diminish and we could be a more "natural" part of this world.
If we try to understand the natural way of things, we see quite readily that the type and number of inhabitants (non-human) in any particular area on earth is determined by the natural provisions
