Being different isn't a crime. Most would look at a guy with a Liberty spike mohawk or a pretty young girl with no hair and think otherwise, but being a fashion victim is NOT a crime, at least not outside of San Fransisco. Our differences is what makes us individual. It's who we are. I, like a select few, have the ability to meld into many groups. Others, unfortunately, look at our differences as if it were a handicap. We were always told when we were kids to be different, and now that we are, we get laughed and pointed at. Why? For having a different outlook on a life some could either laugh or cry at?

Different isn't just in looks. Most times different applies to what the person believes in or their own understanding of things. I like my mind, and most of the people I've come across are very understanding to individual thought.. even though I get "The Look" sometimes, but that's just me. I laugh at the wrong things in movies, especially horror movies, like the most disturbing scenes. Why? Well, first of all, cause I can. That's my right. Secondly it's interesting to see how people react to someone, say, getting hit by a car. Remember Meet Joe Black? I had to watch that scene several times just to get it out, not because I like violence, even though I sometimes do. It's because it's a movie. Entertainment, and nothing much more. There might be some message there, but it's mostly for fun. You don't go to a haunted house for the aesthetic value, although some do, or to admire the costume of the person playing Leatherface as he jumps at you with a chainsaw. You go to get the crap scared out of you, and you realize that it isn't real as you walk out laughing at yourself.

I love being me. Sometimes. There are times when it gets old and I have to reinvent myself or find a new door to walk through. We're all different in our own way. An old saying goes, "The business man laughs at me because I'm different. I laugh at him because he and others like him are the same." They can't dress like me, and can't do what I do. I'd do what they do, but then I'd be like them instead of myself. Most in a class are all alike, but what about those privileged few, those in their mind who don't see class or color and are still looked at as freaks. I don't put myself in a class because it would be impossible. So I smile and laugh and go about my day knowing I'm no better or worse than anyone. I'm different damnit, and that's my right!
