Violence in movies, while it is subjective to the individual, can be categorized as the sheer graphic nature by which the film maker has chosen to portray whatever act seems suitable to the situation. As times change, the amount of violence changes, almost always to a greater degree, yet there are movies that will always stand out at the forefront of the violence ratings due to their risqu portrayal of scenes or simply the sheer amount of violence within the film itself.

1. The Hills Have Eyes (2006)
Easily the most violent and graphic movie of all time, the combination of nauseating material as well as the nature and setting in which it all takes place has created a movie that is violent and offensive on all levels. Rape, murder, beatings, burnings, shootings, stabbings, this movie has all of the above en masse and takes them to extensive lengths towards a goal that gets lost in the sheer volume of blood and gore.

2. Saving Private Ryan
While this movie has far better intentions that merely to make the audience nauseous of afraid, the depiction of war like that in World War II forced director Steven Spielberg to create a world that many of us would never know and one that many of us will never forget. The violence in this movie, while plentiful, is a necessary evil, though through sheer volume of violent acts and blood it solidifies its spot as one of the most violent films of all time.

3. Day of the Woman (a.k.a I Spit on Your Grave!)
A lesser known movie made in 1978 depicted graphic scenes of gang rape and savagery that seemed to know no bounds. A story of loss and revenge director Meir Zarchi takes what is to be a movie about vengeance and turns it into on of the lewdest and most disgusting movies ever to be made. While any scene of rape is too long, the scenes in this movie are drawn out and intense in ways that probably never should have been filmed in the first place. Seeming more like a snuff film than horror this movie knows no bounds when it comes to decency.
