Creating a successful day is simple and begins by taking care of ourselves both inside and out. Jumping out of bed and rushing out for the day is a great injustice to our well-being. Not taking care of ourselves first can be of negative consequence to those around us as well. By starting with a focus or goal for ourselves for the day we begin our day more successfully and positively than it would if we started it with a cluttered mind. These 12 simple suggestions are a great start in creating a successful day.
1. Get out of bed early enough to do personal maintenance before the day begins. Slow down and make time for meditaion, exercise and nourishment.
2. Start the day with quiet time. Meditate and spend time with God. A Bible or daily meditation book are wonderful tools to assist in meditation.
3. Take a brisk walk. Getting the blood pumping will release those wonderful endorphins that aid in positive moods and outlooks. For those who have a hard time waking up, take a quick rinse-off shower.
4. Remember a light breakfast. A little bit of protein will provide enough energy to make it through the biggest aprt of the day. Hunger drains energy which is not a very successful feeling!
5. Set goals for the day. Confidence comes in planning and knowing where we are headed for the day.
6. Listen to positive music in the car, at home and at work. Music reaches the soul of many people. Positive music gives us a mindset that is more tolerable and open toward others.
7. Do something nice for at least one person each day. Even better are little acts of kindness done anonymously.
8. Never intentionally harm yourself or others. Sometimes stuff just flies out of our mouths, seemingly uncontrollably. If we have done the other maintenance in our lives earlier in the day we are less likely to harm anyone by word or deed.
9. If you harm yourself or another, make amends as soon as possible. They do not have to accept your amends, but when we attempt to repair damage we have done we invite inner peace.
10. Always forgive. Harboring resentments robs us of all the peace we have worked to accomplish throughout the day.
11. Take a brisk evening walk before dinner. Walking clears the mind and is a reflective time of the day.
12. End the day with quiet time. Meditate and spend time with God.
It is imperative that we take care of our mentality and our bodies in order to truly maximize a successful day. By starting off with meditation we can center ourselves and begin grounded. In this manner we also avoid the anxiety and stress that can accompany a hectic day.
