Peter Williams worked as a farm hand for Mr. Jack Stark. He had been an employee of Mr.Stark for seven years. Mr. stark was a pleasant man and every year he made sure that Peter had the horses well fed and groomed for the towns annual and biggest event; the town carnival.

Peter not only enjoyed the carnival but enjoyed preparing the horses and making sure the hay was soft and ready for the town folk to ride on.

Peter enjoyed providing the hay rides free as it was not only his boss instruction but he felt a deep desire to make the folk happy.

His boss had given him the opportunity to do so and he was going to do it to the best of his ability as he had always done the years before.

Mr.Stark would pay Peter separately after the carnival but the joy of being there every year was a great outing on its own.

There was one day left and everything was ready. Peter loaded the hay onto the wagon and was about to ride down to the carnival when Mr.Stark walked in.

"Peter everything prepared " he asked in a jovial voice.

"Yes sir everything is ready to be taken down. I was just on my way"

"Good good; now my boy any chance of you finding a nice dame this year?"

"Well sir I don't know. There so many people and well my time is taken up with the ride"

"You a good lad Peter'

"Thank you sir. I got to get down into town will I see sir later?'

"Yes I will be there tomorrow"

Peter gently said something to the two horses and the wagon wheels moved down the dusty road.

Peter would sleep that night at the carnival stable for there was talk of stock theft going around. He detached the wagon from the horses and put the horses into separate stables. He would park the wagon outside the stables in sleep in it for the night.

Many other folk were setting up different stalls all cautious not to leave their valuables out of sight for to long.

It was now seven o' clock and the night was clear. Peter walked up to Miss Plumbs stall and upon seeing Peters face immediately took out a fresh pie and handed it to him.

'What is this for?' asked Peter

"o' this for when you fixed my roof my boy. I was not there to thank you but don't think I forgot"

"It was a pleasure. Thank you for the pie"

"Gona be a lot of them tourist this year I fancy a good few sales"

"I'm sure Miss Plumb. With your baking it will be a sell out"

Peter was tired he went back to check on the horses and made
