Poison

I cannot touch you,
You're not mine
to Braille,
You belong on shore
Distant from where
I stand.
No matter your call
Or how far
Your cries spread
Vast over the
Breadth of time,
I can do nothing.
I must watch
You drift away
As the tide
Pulls you back
To the sea's bosom
Leaving behind
But golden sands
Strewn with ragged
Shells
Those that tear
And bloody
My soul.

I cannot taste you,
I only choke on
Desire's poison;
A rancid dessert
Acidic and wicked.
And as I wail
In the moon's glow;
I am more
Than saddened
By your departing.
My heart breaks
Like thunder
Against stone
As you vanish
Behind a film's
Dull haze.

I cannot sense you,
Your essence
Has drifted.
The night lilies
Have Gathered
Your nectar.
They sup from
A cup that
Was once one
I called mine.
They drink
In delight
From a chalice
We once shared.
I cannot touch you,
You belong to
A distant time;
A place
Far, far away
Through a portal
Where this poison
Is known not,
In a place
Far from
Where it is
That I now
Lie weeping.
