How to put pictures on a PSP

How to put pics on a PSP

There are a couple of ways to put pictures on a PSP. One way is by a digital camera, another way is by computer. The computer will use either a USB/miniUSB cable or a memory stick reader/writer.

DIGITAL CAMERA
If your digital camera uses a Memory Stick Duo for its storage, you can simply insert it into the PSP's Memory Stick slot to view the images.

COMPUTER
Putting pictures on a PSP from a computer is similar to taking pictures away from a digital camera. All you need is:

* A computer (with USB ports or Memory Stick reader/writer)
* A PSP
* A PSP memory card (aka Memory Stick Duo )

To transfer you either need
- A mini USB cable (a cable that is regular USB on one end, but mini on the other)
- A computer that is able to read and write a Memory Stick slot (and adapted for Memory Stick duo if necessary)

USB cable directions

1. Make sure a memory card is inserted in the PSP
2. Turn on the PSP and the computer
3. Locate the pictures you want to transfer on your computer

4. Plug in the cable. The regular USB end goes to the computer's USB port, while the mini USB end goes into the PSP's USB port.
5. On your PSP's screen, go to Settings -> USB Connection. This will start the connection between the PSP and the computer
6. Your computer will now create a folder for the PSP's storage. Go to My Computer and locate it
7. Copy/Paste or Drag pictures from your computer, to the Picture folder of your PSP's storage.
8. When you are done, go back to your PSP to exit USB mode.

Memory Stick Reader directions
1. Open the PSP's Memory Stick slot and remove the memory card
2. Locate the newly created Folder for the Memory Stick storage on My Computer.
3. Copy/Paste or Drag pictures from your computer, to the Picture folder of your Memory Stick's storage

Format Note:
The PSP may not read all image files. Image files that will work are JPG, JPEG, TIFF and GIF. Other files may or may not be read. Images from digital cameras are almost always in JPG format so it won't matter. However images on computers can have many different formats. You may need to convert them beforehand.

Size Note:
While most images will look just fine on the PSP, ridiculously small images (such as bullets, buttons, or character sprites) will be stretched and look, well, horrible.

Also:

If you use a USB memory stick writer, you would still be using the memory stick directions. The benefits of a writer rather than using a cable is that the PSP does not need to be turned on.
