What is Your Dog Thinking About?

Let's face it - sometimes you know exactly what your dog is thinking and other times you are not so sure. For instance when you are eating that piece of chicken and he is looking at you with that I'm really hungry and you are just sitting there eating in front of me.' look, you know that thought. And when he hears the bathwater running and gives you that I am out of here look.' you can figure just about how long you will get the look before he is nowhere to be found.

But at other times when he is looking at you expectantly and you have no clue, what in the world is he thinking? He has been fed and walked. You cannot think of anything else he may need. So, why is he looking at you like that?

Many people just know by their dogs behavior what they want. They know if a look says, Play with me.' Or if he wants some reassurance that he is loved, a certain look will let them know this as well. If you take the time to watch your dog's behavior, you will know in a very short time exactly what your dog is thinking when he gives you one of those looks he loves to throw your way.

There are many times your dog will give you a look that you are expected to understand and you may have no clue. At times like this you really wish he could talk so he could just tell you what he wants. On the other hand, can you imagine what would happen if dogs could talk?

This could definitely cause a problem when you wake up at three in the morning to the neighborhood dogs chatting about their owners. Can you imagine - "Hey, Fido, did you know that Mrs. Smith feeds her dog by-products?" "You do not say, I noticed he was looking kind of frail lately."

Maybe it is just best that we observe our animals and figure out what they are thinking by their actions. After all, no one really wants to know that according to the family dog, Mrs. Smith might be feeding her husband by-products as well.
