Travel to South Africa is a dream trip for many. It's a fascinating place that brings thoughts and images of an extremely exotic locale. If you're lucky enough to travel to such a wonderful place, make sure not to miss:
Cape Town-Take a cable car or hike up Table Mountain. Table Mountain is part of the Table Mountain National Park. Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, see local flora indigenous to South Africa. The botanical gardens sit on the eastern slope of Table Mountain.
Hout Bay & Seal Island. Right off the coast of Hout Bay, is Seal Island, home to over 5000 seals in their natural habitat. Also, visit World of Birds, the largest bird park in Africa. World of Birds has 400 species of birds, monkeys, and small animals.
Boulder Beach. Making up part of Table Mountain National Park (Cape Town), Boulder Beach is home to over 3000 African Penguins.
Sabi Sands Reserve, home to the "Big 5" (elephant, rhino, lion, leopards, and bufflalo). You can also see cheetah and wild dog. This reserve is home to over 350 species of birds. No trip to Africa is complete without a safari!
Cage Diving with Great White Sharks! This is for the really adventurous! Take a Great White diving tour. Offshore of Gansbaai (which is about 2 hours from Cape Town) there are few companies that offer to cage dive with the Great Whites. If you're not so adventurous, you can safely view whales, dolphins, and African Penguins from the safety of your boat tour.
Oudtshoorn. Visit the Cango Caves, take a guides tour into the caves (don't worry, they have easy and advanced tours). Also visit the Cango Wildlife Ranch. Here you can touch a cheetah, see tiger cubs, and dive with Nile Crocodiles. There are also a few ostrich farms where you can try some ostrich eggs or meat and maybe ride an ostrich.
Sun City. It's not just for gambling anymore! Enjoy elephant rides, safaris, and golf. This place has it all! Make sure you visit the Palace of the Lost City to see the life-sized model of Shawu the Elephant. Shawu died of an infection of an old bullet wound in 1982. He was one of seven elephants at Kruger National Park with the largest tusks.
This is just a sampling of the many wonderful and exotic things to do while traveling in South Africa. South Africa is an incredible destination that will leave you memories that will last for a lifetime.
