Woe should not have rained
On the streets of Haifah and Baghdad
Where children once played
Where families stayed
They had no shelter, no walls of steel
From the approaching storm that could not feel
Nothing that could hold out for long
Against black hatred, a thousand times strong
Only years later did they knew what was wrong
Diplomacy did not fail; was never used all along
A bloodbath had followed, a resistance had formed
Sons of fathers, daughters of mothers, champions of their soil
Freedom fighters for Iraq
Called terrorists by all
And now their bodies turned to dust
Forever mourning the red soaked earth
Their bit of haven wrongly invaded
They paid their price, peace is now jaded
Woe should not have rained
On the streets of Haifah and Baghdad
Where children no longer played
Where families, broken, feels woe to have stayed
