Downloadable game review: Peggle Nights, by Popcap

Peggle Nights is the sequel game to Peggle. Much like the original the layouts of the pegs in early stages are similar to the first game. As you go into stage 3 the layout become increasingly harder to accomplish on the first try. The free trial only lasted for the first three stages.

After each stage you can continue in Adventure mode and finish the game that way, or you can go to Quick Play mode and practice and hone your skills on a specific stage.

As the game starts out the music sounds similar to the original. But as you go on it gets better and starts to stand out on its own.

The backgrounds of each stage were better designed and followed the story of each character.

There is also a duel feature which allows you to duel against a computer or another person. Playing against a computer there is an easy, normal, hard, or master levels to compete against the computer. If you do not hit an orange peg during your turn you are deducted a percentage of your points. This is a good challenge just to get practice in your aiming your shot and also banking shots off the walls.

Lastly there is the challenge mode. The challenge mode allows different challenges of levels you have already completed. One level has you clear 35 orange pegs instead of the normal amounts of the pegs. Another one gives you half the amount balls to complete a level.

There are 60 levels in Peggle nights to complete. This should give one hours of enjoyment to complete this game. If you liked Peggle you will enjoy Peggle Nights.

Peggle Nights is a fun game for people of all ages. It doesn't take long to learn and once you learn it's all about lining up shots and a click of the mouse. You soon realize that the balls have minds of their own and can bounce in wacky ways you weren't anticipating.

One feature of the game is that when you quit it saves your progress so when you go back into the game it starts you off where you were.

Rating 4 out of 5. It's not 5 out of 5 because there are a lot of similarities between Peggle Nights and Peggle, but it's different enough to keep your attention the whole way through.

Peggle Nights is $19.95 from the Popcap website.
