These are in demand nowadays due to the large volume of work that has to be done to maintain the ever-growing number of internet sites. One such type of work is doing data entry.

Data entry means input of figures, numbers, records, and other information into a database for processing. One who does data entry jobs are oftentimes called data entry specialists, workers or encoders.

As an online job, data entry is very suitable, since obviously, work is done on the computer. As such, a requirement for workers in this field is to be computer literate, Internet savvy, and to be able to accomplish a lot of jobs one should be a fast typists. Typing speeds range typically from 50 to 75 words per minute with 99% accuracy. Many available programs out there could help develop your typing speed. Some are even in the form of games; you could have fun while honing your typing skills. Familiarizing yourself with keyboard shortcuts is also an added advantage. One could even create shortcuts of their own. In most cases, it is faster than using the mouse. As in every skill, correct and regular practice makes perfect.

There are different types of data entry work. There are those requiring entry of captcha text, usually as much as thousands in a day.

Retyping scanned materials like books or hand written notes. Gathering specific information like e-mail addresses, car lease prices, etc. This can be taken from forums or certain other sites and copying it in a specified format. Usually uses excel files. Much of the work involved is monotonous and requires a great deal of discipline to accomplish. Accuracy is paramount; it determines the quality of your project.

Most of the time 100% accuracy is minimum requirement.

To become successful in this particular online job one is required to have high integrity. Like what was said earlier, accuracy is very important, so the encoder should not intentionally input fraudulent information just to meet his or her deadline. The data entry worker must be very honest with his capacity. Overstating could lead to missed deadlines. Commitment and hard working, the specialists should deliver on his commitments. After making an honest estimate of your capacity and committing this, he should work hard in achieving it. Quality work that misses the deadline is not also good. Clients will find it hard to trust you on new projects if you do not respect deadlines or don't show quality work. Be clear with your client's requirements. Communicate with your client often ask questions to clarify things. If you can show a sample in the initial stages of the project, then it is much better. In this way, he could give better feedback using your sample.
