From the tip of the capital building's gold dome to the Underground Atlanta clubs dining and shopping, and all inbetween there are plenty of things to do in Atlanta during the fall. Whether it's history, amusement, action or the arts you seek, Atlanta will serve it up with southern hospitality and warm graciousness.
*Georgia Aquarium
Eight million gallons of fresh and marine water are home to sea life from all over the world. Whether it's the funny antics of the otters and crabs, the breath taking beauty of transparent, neon colored jellyfish or the monstrous size of the gentle whale sharks, you'll trill to every minute you spend viewing this magical underwater world.
*Zoo Atlanta and Ford African Rain Forest
The animals are out of their cages at Zoo Atlanta; you view animals such as alligators, elephants and zebras in a natural habitat setting. Atlanta even has Pandas and dont miss the Ford African Rain Forest where youll see gorillas as they live in the wild! There are rides for the children and a train ride adults will enjoy. Food kiosks and restaurants are scattered throughout the zoo, so you can eat and rest whenever you choose.
*Visit Stone Mountain Park
It's more than the world's largest exposed piece of granite. It's a day full of fun, learning and doing. From the Sky ride to the top in the morning to the world famous laser show in the evening, you'll have the time of your life. Visit the Crossroads reproduction town of 1870 and eat at Miss Katie's Sideboard, ride the scenic train and visit the Barnyard where the kids can pet the animals.
*Atlanta Cyclorama & Civil War Museum
The year is 1864, and the event is the Civil War fight for Atlanta. You'll think you're there as you sit on a revolving platform and watch it unfold before you. The backdrop is a forty-two foot high lifelike painting that circles the room. In the foreground are the realistic, life size troops, complete with artillery and horses. The narration, lighting and sound effects take you to the agony of the defeat.
*Atlanta High Museum of Art
You've seen it on the news and Discovery Channel; now see it in person. Coming this fall to Atlanta's High Museum of Art is, "The First Emperor and the Terracotta Army of China." One of the world's greatest archeological finds in the 20th Century. Life-sized terracotta replicas of warriors and their horses with stunning detail-no two are the same.
*Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site
