Humor: Cruelty

One fine Sunday morning our Pastor preached a message saying, Praise God in all things. He went on and on about how to always keep God in mind, especially in those moments in life when all seems so negative and simply say "Praise Him". He gave positive examples about how that way of thinking had always helped him and made his life better. He encouraged everyone to remind each other when low times happen, sad times or pain... simply Praise God. He soon had everyone nodding in agreement and smiling at his words. How awesome it must be to be able to reach that level in faith. Later on that week he was hanging a picture frame in his office and he asked the deacon there to hold the nail to the wall while he hammered it in place. The deacon was nervous about that and his hand was shaking, making it almost impossible to get a good hit on it. The pastor then decided he would hold the nail and the deacon could hammer it in. That man was giving careful, gentle taps on it but pastor said, "just hammer it hard once and for all." So the deacon tightened his grip on the hammer handle and hit hard but he missed the nail and hit the pastor's thumb. Blood shot out as the pastors thumb got busted and the Deacon's mouth fell open and all he could say to the pastor was "Praise Him!... Praise Him!..." The pastor chased the young man around the room in not a very good mood. Come now you hold the nail he was saying as the Deacon shook his head and kept one step away from the pastor. It was funny to say the least tho it messed up his thumb a bit. We couldn't help but laught at that even tho we helped bandage up his thumb. That evening we decided to visit my parents who also went to that same church. My dad was on top a ladder inside his porch. He was fixing some beams on the cieling. His feet were on the very top of the ladder and it seemed a bit rickety. My mom was holding the ladder but when she saw up coming up the walkway she let go of it and she waved at us. The ladder collapsed and my dad grabbed on to the beam in the cielling. there he was clinging, swinging, kicking and yelling at mom to help him. And she was yelling back at him "Praise Him... Praise Him..." . We ran to try to help but dad had let go of the beam and plopped down. He wasn't hurt, except for his feelings cause mom forgot about the ladder. To this day we laugh when we remember those times, cruel as they may seem to the ones that had to go thru real life slapstick.
