I am happy to announce that I have finally found a diet that works and I am excited! I commenced my diet and exercise regime just over three weeks ago and can say that I have steadily lost just over a kilogram per week. The remarkable thing is that I've achieved this without having to endure those mind-numbing moments when hunger sets in and you try to think of anything but food to distract your self from inhaling the entire contents of the fridge.
The first thing I decided to do in embarking on yet another diet, was to consult with a naturopath. I wanted to make sure that this diet didn't leave me exhausted and on the verge of another immune system crash. I decided that fresh was best and that like many women, I was definately not consuming enough protein. I went to the local health food store and purchased a high quality protein supplement that I could have in the mornings on the way to work, instead of doing the usual time and cost effective method of dieting- skipping breakfast altogether. One scoop of protein powder, one ten second pour of skim milk, shake it up, and I'm out the door. The powder that was recommended to me contains many of the vitamins and minerals that my body needs to kick start the day properly and has the added benefit of Hydroxy-citric acid, which works a treat in enabling the body to burn fat more effectively. Chromium picolinate is also essential in fending off the sugar cravings and enabling the body to metabolise fat and carbohydrate in a way that regulates how these energy sources are converted to energy for use throughout the day.
The next habit I picked up was to sip on green tea regularly throughout the day. I have found that this limits the extent to which the body stores fluid around the abdomen area. For morning tea, I started preparing a fruit salad of chopped green apple and pink grapefruit. I didn't know the science behind it, but I had heard that both of these fruits had reputed fat burning qualities. I thought I'd put this "theory" to the test! So far, so good.
In addition to these measures, I also decided to get more leafy greens into my system. For my lunches I began to fill fill up on a mix of baby spinach, dark green lettuces, purple cabbage, carrot, celery and green capsicum. I'd accompany this with about 150 grams of shaved chicken breast to ensure that I was getting a low fat source of protein into my midday meal. For the last few weeks, afternoon tea has consisted of a can of tuna in springwater and a pear, and
