Situated alongside Atlanta's Piedmont Park is unique, trendy Atlanta bar and grill called Park Tavern. Park Tavern is an outdoor tavern offering a nice view of Piedmont Park, a picture perfect view of the Atlanta skyline, live music, and flavorful American style cuisine seasoned with a taste of the south. There is also plenty of southern hospitality.

I love to visit Park Tavern following a morning at the park with my husband, kids, and our dog, Bailey. It's a nice place to have a cool, micro-brewed beer, cocktail, or a bite of scrumptious food.

I mention Bailey, our golden retriever, because she doesn't mind our stop at Park Tavern at all. This restaurant is the only one I've found that has dog tie-posts on the patio. Bailey can join us on the patio.

Park Tavern's atmosphere and menu are the main reasons my family enjoys the restaurant. The menu is diverse enough to please even the pickiest eaters in the family. I love the salads. The kids go for burgers or chicken tenders and sweet potato fries. My husband loves the Park Tavern original pecan-smoked barbecue ribs. I prefer pecan-smoked BBQ chicken.

Sometimes we share an appetizer of artichoke dip or eggrolls. The portions are hearty and the food is good. It's hard to find a place where everyone in the group can find something to eat, but Park Tavern offers so many choices there is no way anyone can leave hungry. Other menu items include steak, seafood, and wings.

So far everything we've tried has been good. The specialties are the best, in my opinion.

When you plan to visit Piedmont Park and it rains, don't worry. Park Tavern is a good place to find refuge on a rainy day. You'll find a dry, warm place in the cozy lodge style dining room inside. I find it nostalgic to warm up by the fireplace, then find a place to dine.

I prefer the kids not dine inside. I recommend taking the kids when the weather is nice and you can enjoy the family atmosphere and fantastic view from the patio.

Park Tavern in Atlanta sounds a little eclectic. A better description is chic. It's one of Atlanta's favorite spots to dine near Piedmont Park. It is also a hot spot for holiday parties. The Piedmont room upstairs can be reserved for private receptions and events.

The staff is friendly and willing to go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your meal. I think you will enjoy the meal and the experience of Park Tavern. The next time you visit Piedmont Park stop in with your family and friends for a refreshing, tasty brew and a bite to eat.
