Sometimes it's easy
To love the ones you adore.
Sometimes it's not;
The pain they cause makes it hard to breathe.
Love is more than just a feeling.
It's the greatest journey one can ever undertake:
The high points are the highest of heights,
But the low points are the darkest desperation incarnate.
Smiles when they smile, frowns when they frown,
Even when the same isn't done for you in return.
The moment you feel you want the sympathy you give,
The selfishness eats you inside.
It makes you feel worse than before
And still you have no comfort, no sympathy.
Pain inflicted in their ignorance
Hurts more than it should.
Yet in all the pain, through all the heartache,
They are still worth loving.
Never-ending love pours forth continually,
Yet they don't realize the magnitude.
The sacrifice of your love for them.
When "I love you" is more real than they realize,
More than they can understand at the time.
When they know the love really is "real,"
But they don't realize just how real it really is.
Love is more than just a feeling.
It's the hardest effort one can ever undertake.
Yet with all the difficulty and pain it brings,
The outcome is more than worth the trouble.
