Downloadable Game Review: Dr. Lynch Grave Secrets by Oberon Media
A Jane Jenson game creation, produced by Floodlight Games and distributed by Oberon Media, is downloadable with a 60-minute game trial and once you start to play this intriguing hidden object, clue-based game, you'll just have to buy the licensed version. I give Dr. Lynch Grave Secrets a 5/5 for games of its class.
The only thing I noticed that wasn't quite up to par was the in-game music. When the game is loading, with its eerie Celtic background, the music doesn't quite match the scene, but other than that I was very impressed with this hidden object game set in the English highlands.
When the game opens sets up the storyline with a multi-page cartoon strip telling the player about Dr. Sandji, an American Archaeologist in the Cotswold of Brombury, England, and his "digplagued by a" ghostly female "saboteur," along with the skeptic, Dr. Ignatius Lynch, who sets out to prove the sighting is a bunch of hogwash.
This hidden object game can boast of realistic scenes set in rural England and excellent in-game tips to walk the newbie through the first few scenes.
The time limit for the first investigation is 25:00 and the player starts with 7 hints for a 3-scene level. You can easily pause the game if you need or want to. Some objects with provide clues to who the culprit might be, as you find them in the game scene. Don't be fooled, though, by the realism of the scenes. Some objects are very difficult to spot, either because of size or placement, or due to color.
After all puzzle locations have been completed, the player has to solve a puzzle in order to go to the next investigation (level). Clues give hints about what the player can expect of the next level of play. Once the last puzzle has been finished, the player will be notified by the "Investigation Complete" scene, and go on to the next location.
Gather optional items to get some extra hints. Gather clue cards to learn more about the game's characters
