Poetry: The 80's

by Alexandra Heep

While I reflect I never turn back
An innocent phrase and video clip
Got me caught up in a memory track
Now my mind is on a long backwards trip

Hair spray, tight pants - lots of glamour and glitz
The music was great and it came all dressed
In stripes and leather, big curls, boots with bits
I found something then that I have liked best

While others find peace in old childhood dreams
No innocence found for me in that time
Few moments for me were happy it seams
So I take what I had and make it rhyme

So what if many want that decade gone
I came alive briefly and found my song
