Dr Lynch Grave Secrets, by Oheron Meida is a game that would be most appealing to those gamers with a knack for finding "ghostly" clues, putting pieces together and uncovering the great mystery within! All while racing against the clock! There is tons of mental flexing in this game.
Game Play 3/5
Dr. Lynch Grave Secrets begins with somewhat of a lull. After the first investigation, things do pick up a bit. Even with help, the actual sequence in which the game is to be played can be a bit confusing. There are small tidbits of advice as the player advances through the first stage, which are extremely helpful. However, there is a significant amount of time spent just "investigating" in that stage. It doesn't build anticipation for the remaining stages.
Graphics 4/5
The graphics were actually very crisp, detailed, and vibrant. In fact, the enhanced, colorful graphics provide the perfect background for the challenges involved in locating certain clues or artifacts needed to advance through the game. These are tricks the gamer must overcome to beat the clock and get much needed information.
Sound 3/5
Grave Secrets' sound does not offer much to the game. Other than random noises added to reference movement, there is not much else in the scenes. The game would also benefit from having more verbal interaction from the characters. There is plenty of reading involved, not to mention all the clicking, that causes the player to lose sight of the game's plot. The lack of sound helps in concentration, but diminishes the experience.
Creativity and Innovation 3/5
There was definitely thought put into the ideas of how to navigate through areas of interest and the difficulty of the bonus levels. The concept is not exactly innovative. It does, however, give a strange and ghostly twist to a Sherlock Holmes-like mystery. It does force the player to look very closely at each detail, which is key to unlocking the secrets.
Overall, Dr. Lynch Grave Secrets, by Oheron Media doesn't pack the hardest punch. The mental and visual challenges will at least appeal to those players who enjoy a good puzzle. For the player looking for ghostly apparitions and clues revealing shocking secrets around every corner, this game may not be the best buy. The game has lots of potential, but getting over the "Where's Waldo" experience of the game makes it forgettable.
