THE LIFE OF A VOLUNTEER'S FURBABY
As Seen Through the Eyes of Goliath, The Monster Min Pin
Mom keeps bringing friends for me, they're brown and black and tan,
They only stay a little while and then they're gone again.
Some of them don't look so well, I wonder where they've been,
Mom just hugs and kisses them and tells them it's a sin.
She sits me down upon her lap and says she loves me best,
I wonder if it's true sometimes when she's with the rest.
I push the lever on the treat machine-the Cheerios come out,
And then the rest of them dig in, and I'm just tossed about.
Hey, wait a minute! I want some. It's me who did the trick,
I have to learn if I want some, I've got to get them quick!
It used to be just me alone, I was the only child,
Now it's really noisy here, and boy do we get wild!
Sometimes these guys just look so sad, it really makes me worry.
One of them has told me, "You don't want to know my story."
Once I heard my Mom say that they were treated mean,
She told me they have been through things I've never seen.
My coat is always shiny, soft and I am always fed,
At night I snuggle up to Mom in a warm and cozy bed.
She told me these are friends of mine, if only for a while,
Anyway, while they are here, they always make Mom smile.
They keep me company every day when my Mom's away,
It's nice I'm not alone and bored with "Animal Planet" all day.
And when they go, I know alone again they'll never roam,
For Mom told me they're going to their "forever home."

While I was blissfully napping,
From outside came a horrible yapping.
I pulled the pillow over my head,
Totally remissed to

Looked up at us, we smiled at her

But she stood her ground,

As if he had something important to say.
His eyes were glazed and full of sorrow,
