The twisted metal, the broken glass - The sound of sobs, the dew soaked grass.
I lay and wait for someone to pass - the blood from my body is draining fast.
The memory of my friend's strong voice - convincing me it was my choice.
The drugs they offered, I knew were bad - the end result would prove to be sad.
They told me my needs would be met - to trust in them,so my mind was set.
I believed in my heart their words were true - not realizing what they wanted me to do.
Running from strangers I thought were my friends - to my surprise this highway ends.
I lay on the street, scared and alone - my friends that were there are now all gone.
I hear a voice so loud and clear - saying, "rest my child, for I am here."
My savior was with me right from the start - my backsliding ways hadn't changed His heart.
I knew I was wrong with what I had done - but, it couldn't be hidden from my Father's Son.
He loves me in spite of my sinful act - if I get out of this, I'll never go back.
"Jesus, I'm scared and need you so bad - You're the very best friend that I've ever had."
"I'm sorry I failed You, please forgive me - I'm beggin you Jesus, help me I plea"
The Lord explained that I should not fret - "help's on its way, I'm not through with you yet."
"You have friends that don't know me today - your job is to help them find their way."
"With My hand in yours, you cannot go wrong - you'll never travel this journey alone."
"Your help has arrived, I love you dear - They can't see Me, but you'll know I am near."
I told my friends what I had gone through - explaining that Jesus wants to be with them too.
Some laughed hard and some walked away - yet some decided to choose Him that day.
One day in heaven, my Jesus I'll see - He changed the path I had chosen for me.
"Thank You my Lord," is my nightly prayer - "Even if I can't see You, I know that You're there."
