Yesterday I had a discussion with some friends about the presidential election and National Health Care. I was surprised to learn that there are some individuals who do not know about Canada and their National Health Care system. I feel before anyone votes they should know something about this topic.

I have heard about this system in Canada and how horrible it is. People have to wait days, weeks, months, and sometimes years to receive the care they need. To back this up I have done some research so others can read for themselves just how bad National Health Care can be. One individual went to court trying to obtain private health insurance which is not legal in some providences of

Canada. This man has been waiting a year for hip replacement surgery, in some cases individuals die while waiting to receive health care. At this point and time Americans do not have this problem. Imagine your child is sick and you are told you will to wait a week or more before the doctor can see you. Is this the type of health care system our families deserve or want? The average waiting time between the time of diagnosis and referral to a general practitioner has risen from 17.7 weeks in 2003 to 17.9 weeks in 2004. Depending on which providence you live depends on how long you will wait for a simple MRI, this could be anywhere from 7 weeks to 33 weeks. How long do our loved ones wait now for this process? Maybe a day or two at the most, if it is important this procedure can be done the same day.

This is one country which utilizes National Health Care there are others including England,
Cuba, and Australia just to name a few. Pray you are not expecting to deliver your new born baby in Great Britain which utilizes this system. They have turned mother's in labor away telling them to have their baby some place else. Well you can book your delivery in advance, but this is no guarantee you will be admitted. Let's take a look at New Zealand which also utilizes National Health Care. Imagine the one you love needs surgery, but is told they do not qualify, wait DON'T QUALIFY? How is it that it has been determined your loved one needs surgery, but does not qualify. Oh but do not worry they will be put on a list to be reevaluated. Note some individuals have waited as long as six months for their reevaluation. The article however does state that these surgeries are those which are not life threatening such as eye or hip replacement surgery. While these may not be life threatening they can hinder the quality of life an individual should be leading.

There are more articles and while I did not read them I do not have to know that National Health Care is a bad idea. I have done the research to educate others so they may realize what I and others already do. Educate your selves on topics you know little or nothing about, and help to educate others. If this is not enough for you go to this link and read more for your self. Do not let the fact that National Health Care is referred to as socialism it is the same thing, note Ms. Hilary Clinton's picture who supports this type of health care along with others in our country.
