What should I do when my water breaks during pregnancy?

First thing, don't panic. Just breath and relax you still have lots of time before the baby comes. I am a Mom of two great girls both vaginal births. My first one I had a dry birth, my water did not break for days yet, I was in hard labor for two antagonizing days non-stop. I'd be rushed to the hospital only to be sent back home. Then sit on the couch while my BFF timed my contractions and when they were 2 minutes apart, we jump back in the car and do it all over again. My husband stood by at work waiting to receive the call that it was really time now and to meet us at the hospital. This was my first girl. But, to all of you yet to be Mom's, she was totally worth the wait and all the agony. When she came and I brought her home, it was like I was babysitting and then as I looked over to watched her sleep and hoped and prayed with all of my heart that she would never have her unhappy moments in life, let me cry for her. I prayed so hard that first day she and I were at home together.

Now my baby girl, was so much different, first she was 9.99 pounds and I think if they had waited until the scale stopped rocking it would have leveled out to a perfect 10 lbs. I had a normal birth with her, water broke when I was in the car, just enough water for me to think, I had a little accident on myself. So, I went on with my normal chores, finished the wash, started folding some clothes and then the contractions started coming. Five minutes or so apart, so I didn't panic, knowing what happened the last time with my first one. But, when they were about 2 minutes apart, I told my husband, let's pack up the car and let's go, it was time. When I got there of course they put you in and out of the shower to induce the contractions more so you can dilate quicker. I don't know who every thought of that dumb idea, cause it just caused me to be more irritated during the process. Sure they brought warm sheets each time, but, just as I got nice a cosy under the sheets, I had to get right back under that shower and almost a day later around 1:30 in the afternoon, here she comes flips out like a football in to the doctors arms. No pulling, tugging, poking or nothing like the last one. Then my doctor had the nerve to say, well now that's done, see you next year same time and place right? I told her that was it for me. I'm putting up my skates and going into retirement on this game. She and I had a wonderful laugh and then I was a Mother of two girls. From then on, when I spoke about my children, I always use the term "the girls." I loved the way it came acrossed my lips and today now that one is 14 soon to be 15 and one 10 going on 11 soon, I still love it and them with all my heart and soul. So you new Mom's to be, get ready for the BEST TIME OF YOUR LIFE. Remember how special you are when you feel so unappreciated, because everyone can't be a Mom and not everyone gets the chance. God really knows what he's doing so keep giving him the credit. He definitely deserves it. Enjoy.
