Dear Ms Keech,
RE: VERY SERIOUS CONCERNS ABOUT 2 CHILDREN IN RICHLANDS
We have been consulted for legal advice by Ms Tanya Roberts in relation to her 2 children: Kathryn lee-ann Roberts born 1 August 1994 (Kathryn') and Lachlan David Roberts born 23 September 1998 (Lachlan').
This is a notification from Ms Tanya Roberts, mother of Kathryn and Lachlan.
This is also a serious complaint by Ms Tanya Roberts in relation to actions of officers from the Department of Child Safety at the Inala Child Safety Service Centre.
A brief history of the situation as instructed by Ms Tanya Roberts is as follows:
1. Ms Roberts separated from Mr Roberts in about 2001. This was the end of an 11 year relationship in which there was severe domestic and family violence (including being severely bashed, assaulted, raped, been shot at, and nearly chocked to death in front of the children).
2. Lachlan is a child with disability: autistic spectrum disorder; ADHD; anxiety disorder; speech and language problems and has been expelled by a number of schools in the last 3 years.
3. Ms Roberts obtained family court orders on 25 October 2002 which made Ms Roberts the priMavis carer and Mr Roberts had weekend contact. After a severe domestic violence incident where both children were abused by their father when they went to stay with their father in December 2003 for the first 2 weeks of the school holidays, a child protection notification was made by Kathryn's counsellor. The Department of Child Safety investigated and told Ms Roberts that she should not send the children to their father ever again. The Department of Child Safety said that the children were safe whilst in Ms Roberts's care.
4. Ms Roberts has had a number of challenges in managing Lachlan's behaviour over the past years. Ms Roberts has sought assistance and help from the Department of Child Safety in managing Lachlan's behaviours. At all times
