Fishco

Oh, another aquarium game. Let me guess, I have to click as fast as I can to feed the fish and collect coins. No? Oh, well then I must be slowing breeding and selling them to make some money without any real goals. No? Hmmm, sounds good...
Fishco was refreshingly different than other fish/aquarium type games I have played before. It is also different than most of the crazy clicking time management games out there.
In Fishco you are a co-owner of a fish store who is trying to make some money. The game has 40 levels in the Action Mode and just as many in the Relaxed Mode. Each level has different goals you need to reach in a set amount of time, such as selling so many fish or owning so many plants.
If you pass a level in expert time you get a reward for your Sandbox, kind of like trophies in other time management games but a little more creative. I say this because you can go into your Sandbox aquarium and design it anyway you want, with the plants, fish and other decor items you've unlocked. You can then set your Sandbox to be your screen saver, so if you are one of those people who enjoy the fish tank screen saver (and who doesn't) this game will become an instant favorite just because of this feature.
The game play is simple and similar to the Build A Lot games, with tabs separating the different types of tasks needed. I found it easy to navigate my way around buying fish and their food but you have to remember to pay attention to the requirements for the different fish and plants, like the amount of space or type of lighting they require.
The music is typical background noise and nothing special, although I found it didn't get annoying like the music is many other games. The sound effects were just enough and sounded like what they were representing.
The graphics were some of the best I've seen in an aquarium game. I especially liked the fireworks when you complete the level, little fishes instead of simple dots and sparkles. The backgrounds are more simple than the fish but still look really good. The fish themselves are very well done and realistic. Although, when you have them breed and they just swim up to each other and start kissing the realism turns a little more cartoony, but it's probably better than watching the real thing!
I gave this game a 4.5/5 because I didn't find it perfect but it's very enjoyable and just challenging enough to keep me playing without me getting frustrated and yelling at my computer. I'd say to give it a try if you like time management games or if you want the coolestcustomizable fish tank screen saver, but you'll have to work to get all those different fish!
