How your home's decor reflects you

Your home's decor acts as a mirror to reflect who you are. You decorate your home the way you like it and not to impress others. Throughout your home, you spread items that interest you. As time passes your tastes may change just as your decorative style will. Still, you work to make your home the place you always dreamed of from the first day you lay eyes on it until the day you move on.

When you are house hunting, you are not likely to pick the first place you see. You will want to go in and look around. You will need to feel like the place is for you. In order for you to call a house a home, it needs to be comfortable and it needs to suit you.

The theory is the same when it comes to decorating. You aren't just going to toss things you don't like all over the place. You are the one that has to look at the choices you make. Your home is your canvas and you will paint the picture that best reflects you. When it comes down to it, you can learn a lot about a person from their decorative ideas. What will you let your home decor tell others about you?

There are many options when it comes to decorating. You can pick colors that reflect your inner light or colors that just make you feel bad. If you are a dark person, you may lean towards black or earthy tones. If you are happy and always looking on the bright side, your colors could be yellow or something with a neon tint.

If you are a shifty person who likes many different things then you will probably choose home decor that doesn't typically match but still looks good together. You may even opt for completely different themes for each room of the house. If you are a laid back person, then your home is probably cozy. Your home decor likely consists of big throw pillows, afghans, and big soft rugs.

Perhaps, you enjoy simplicity. Then, you are likely to use the less is more decorating theory. This is usually reflected through minimal furniture and basic necessities. Decorating your home with elegant furniture and expensive decor could be a sign that you are on the other end of the spectrum. You are likely to be more sophisticated or classy and find comfort in the finer things in life.

Free spirited people may choose tie-dyed patterns while a hunting enthusiast may pick a camouflage theme. You could even opt for a theme related to a favorite collection such as teddy bears, angels, sports paraphernalia, or religious materials. The world is full of options when it comes to decorating your home and deciding what it is that you like.

There is no right or wrong way to decorate if you enjoy the way things look. Your home decor doesn't have to match something from a home and garden publication. When you look in the mirror, you don't see the reflection of someone else, you see yourself. Your home is part of you and it is your choice to make it the way you like it.

Your home is the place you inhabit. It is your happy place and your comfort zone. Your home is where your heart is and what you love is contained within those walls. When choosing your home decor, the best reflection will be cast by letting your personality shine through.
