Go Down South to Atlanta for holiday fun

The Holiday Season will soon be upon us and many families may be looking for a special holiday getaway to go with their children. And due to its easy accessibility and a myriad of attractions, Atlanta Georgia is fast becoming a popular tourist venue, even in the off-season. Atlanta is the main hub of locally based Delta Airlines; and due to lower fuel prices, and an excellent interstate highway system, flying or driving to the "peach tree city" is even more economical than what one might think.

In addition to offering lower cost winter travel tickets, airline and holiday travel companies also offer special seasonal travel packages, which not only include the flight tickets, but hotel stays and rental cars as well. For a family of four, for example, a 5 to 7 day stay in Atlanta has much to offer with a number of attractions for the entire family.

Atlanta, Georgia's capital city underwent a major face lift for the1996 Olympiad, and features activities and accommodations that are sure to please the most discriminating traveler. Downtown Atlanta is only a half hour ride from Hartsfield Intl. Airport by the MARTA, the city's rapid transit train line. MARTA routes have been expanded in the past few years and on can ride it to the central downtown area for less than two dollars per person. Special weekly travel tickets are also available for going to other parts of the city serviced by the system as well. Once "downtown" a variety of hotels, restaurants, and activities are readily available.

Some of the recommended downtown activities include guided tours of the CNN Center and Coca Cola Company museum. The Coca Cola Co, which had it's beginnings in Atlanta in the early 1900's, recently completed a brand new museum premises across the street from the city's Olympic Park. Prices are around $6 for adults and $3 for kids under 12. Right next door to Coke's museum is the fabulous new Sea Aquarium, which claims to be the largest inland aquarium in America. The aquarium is well worth visiting and food and beverages are available there, as well as in the CNN Center. All three attractions are easy walking distance from each other. The 40 minute CNN Center tour cost $15 for adults and $10 for kids.

A special Atlanta City Pass can be ordered in advance which enables one to visit a number of Atlanta attractions, at a savings of 42% off individual tickets. Attractions covered include The Georgia Aquarium, World of Coca Cola (located right next
