When black people stood up for equality, they never forced anyone to accept that blacks were more special than whites. They didn't force schools to change their curriculums to include black culture. And generally, they do not want to make it a crime to be racist, they just want to be treated as equals in society. There is a clear dividing line between equal rights and freedom of thought concerning racism in America. I can't say the situation is ideal now, but it is much improved since the early nineteen hundreds. It will continue to improve as long as undue attention is not drawn to the issue. Every time Hollywood produces another movie about racism, we are all reminded once again how terrible and racist white people still are against blacks and non-white immigrants. It is not as bad as the media makes it out to be, but it is still an issue that impacts the lives of blacks even outside the south. Sex education wasn't enough, (as if young people need directions), they now demand that homosexuality be explained fully to open minded high school students. Shouldn't our education be about the business of educating young people so they can have successful careers? If a high school graduate decides to go to college, then he can choose to learn whatever subject he wishes there. Let alternative sex education be introduced there in its very own class, where the students dictate which way the spending goes. No doubt such a class will survive, but if it's not required,
