Right outside of Atlanta's Little Five Points is the town of Roswell, GA. A few friends and I had the distinct pleasure of driving down from Nashville a few weekends ago because they had a gig at a quaint little barn-like restaurant with rustic side boards and a big, green canoe for a beer well. The drive down in the first week of October is absolutely breathtaking. I am just glad we got back home in one piece from all the rubber-necking going on. This awesome place for the best ribs in Georgia is aptly named Swallow At The Hollow. MMMMMmmmmmm! Good stuff! It's off a back street off a back street off a back street. If you don't know where this hidden treasure trove of tantalizing tastes is, you need to find out. Better yet, here is the website URL:
http://www.theswallowattheholl ow.com/.
After you have devoured the best ribs and biscuits in the entire state of Georgia, go wash your hands and face, and then order up some of their famous chocolate chip banana pudding. Again, I have to say it. MMMMMmmmmmmm! I cannot express that enough about this place. It's just the greatest environment too.
Now, get ready for some live music that's gonna blow you away. The intimate setting in here is worth the trip from just about anywhere. It's not too loud, but just loud enough to kick back with an ice cold beer and enjoy. The artists interact with their audience from a front-and-center stage with ambient lighting. The stage setting is nostalgic of someone's old stereo room with shelves and shelves full of old LPs and stereo equipment. Leave your cigarettes in the car because this is a non-smoking establishment. Swallow at the Hollow is family-friendly.
I know this is supposed to be about possibly several restaurants in the Atlanta area, but I believe this backwoods benchmark needs to be brought to the forefront. For those of you not familiar with Atlanta, like myself, then it is kind of hard to find, but once you locate it, you won't want to leave the street it garnishes. Across from Swallow At The Hollow sits a cool little joint with a giant peace sign and Haight-Ashbury street signs out in front. Tell me that's not a cool place to hang! Under the open-framed patio, you can sit and talk with friends while enjoying the biggest wedge of apple pie east of the Mississippi. No joke, they cut their homemade pies in fourths!
So, the next time you're traveling through Roswell, GA, just stop in and have some ribs and biscuits. You'll always come running back for more to Swallow At The Hollow.
