Where has Civility Gone?
While this article deals with Sarah's qualifications to be vice-president, it is mostly about common courtesy and where has it gone.
I am appalled by the lack of common courtesy and civility in society as a whole and, in particular, with regards to Sarah Palin. I have never seen so much hatred levelled against one person. Please tell me what she has done to deserve such treatment by the press, Hollywood, and many mainstream people (especially other women).
Okay, she is a Republican and a rather right-wing one at that, which, apparently many television, movie, stage, and singing stars have decided is an unpardonable sin; this makes it okay to spew all sorts of vile hate language toward her words too vile to put into print.
I was nauseous when I saw the clip of Madonna in concert where she chanted that Palin (maybe it was "f* Palin") was not invited to her concert and never would be. Is Madonna so arrogant that she thinks everyone wants to attend her concert or to hear her pompous views, those of a woman who does not know what marital happiness, let alone marital fidelity looks like? It makes me ill to hear her audience cheering on this sophomoric behavior!
Add to this the multitude of other media types who do not know Sarah Palin, her accomplishments, her intelligence, or anything else about the woman, yet feel they have the standing to tell us that she is not qualified to be vice-president of the United States. Who determined they should make this pronouncement?
Below are but a few views of some very misguided people and what they think about Sarah Palin. You have probably all heard these before. I repeat them here to make my point:
Senator Joe Biden said: "Palin would be a backward step for women." (Yeah, in whose mind but yours, Joe?).
Hollywood's Matt Damon opines that "She's like this really bad Disney movie." (Leave it to a Disney movie star a few steps below Mickey Mouse.)
Professor Wendy Doniger thinks: "Palin's biggest hypocrisy is her pretense that she's a woman." (Genetically and physiologically, Ms. Palin IS a woman!)
Comedian Bill Mahar reports that "Palin is a snarling bitch." (Well, may to you, Mr. Mahar, but I don't see that in her personality).
Comedian Brad Garrett notes that "Palin is white trash." (How would you know that, Brad?)
Author Cintra Wilson feels Palin is: " a f*kable Christian Stepford wife in a 'sexy librarian' costume." (My what fantasies you have my dear!).
Hollywood's Lindsay Lohan notes that "(She's) a narrow minded,
