Poetry: Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder

Spirals and Melodies

An ever twirling spiral
A continual melody that never seems to stop
The sour undertone that fights my heart for survival
Everlasting fights that will continue to the death

Nightmares, memories, and flashbacks
That tuck me in to sleep
Tears, pain and fears
That wake me up to the day

Unable to forget what I know
Too broken too remember what I forgot
My life a nightmare I want to sleep through
A reality better left untold

Deep eyes
Full of pain and secrets
She never wants to tell
And you really don't want to know

A cardboard heart
Soaking wet with tears
Torn to pieces and burnt to ashes
Buried under pressure

Where do you begin the repairs?
On something far cheaper to replace
Sometimes it's better to recognize it worth
And leave it how it is
