Best Ways to Brighten a Dull Complexion
Do you long for the vibrant skin of your youth? So you exercise regularly, drink lots of water, get plenty of sleep, and yet your complexion still appears dull and lifeless! Give it the old 1-2 punch-exfoliate and hydrate. Let me say it again, exfoliate and hydrate.
Exfoliating, or removing dead skin instantly brightens your complexion. Getting rid of that weathered skin from the surface of the face will not only allow your other skin care products easier access thus making them more effective, it will help your makeup look fabulous! Scrubbing your skin until it's raw is not necessary. There are many skin polishers that will do the job gently yet effectively. How frequently you exfoliate depends on your skin type. The oilier your skin is, the more often you can exfoliate. For example, a drier skin should exfoliate once or twice a week while an oilier skin can exfoliate almost every other day. Be sure you avoid your eye area.
Hydrating, or moisturizing the skin is also key to a glowing complexion. Contrary to popular belief, all skin types need to moisturize, even an oily skin. Environmental factors as well as aging can cause the skin to become dry and dehydrated. Replenishing that moisture is essential to maintaining a radiant complexion. Choose a moisturizer designed for your skin type. If your skin is prone to oiliness use an oil-free product. Find one with a mat finish. If you are very oily you may want to hydrate only at night and opt for a primer during the day instead, either alone or under your makeup. The drier your skin, the richer your moisturizer can be. Try one with an opalescent finish which will enhance the brightening effect. No matter what your skin type you should always cleanse and moisturize your skin at night.
If you're looking for a "quick fix" to enliven your skin you can visit your local facialist . They have an abundance of services to produce a lustrous result. If that doesn't fit your budget, an over the counter at home treatment can often do the trick.
And don't underestimate the power of a good makeup trick! A shimmering powder in your skin tone dusted all over the face can enhance lack luster skin. Always use makeup colors that enhance your skin's natural undertones. Switching to a foundation with a luminous finish can also give the illusion of a brilliant complexion.
