Proudly they stand
Skinny soldiers of green
No fingers or hands
But
Oh so mean
Twelve inches in height
Guarding my yard
Powered by sunlight
From
Dawn to dark
My mower won't slice
Those menacing weeds
Any advice
To
Help me succeed?
A velvet soft lawn
Is my desire
To walk barefoot
Or
Build a campfire

Of the unseen enemy. I feel for
Banded together.
Mingled into one.
Marching through time,
until justice is done.

he stands back and
THEIR SLEEP'S A STORM
Sleeping in a muddy trench.
Our heroes breathing filthy stench.
Or resting in a bed of sand.
