I have just seen the Episode 6, Season 3 of Heroes and boy was I impressed with the script writing! This good impression didn't come easily as I was sorely disappointed when Season 3 debuted - you know, with the whole future Peter Petrelli going back in time to kill his own brother, Nathan, and how future Claire wants to kill Peter to prove that she is every bit of a Hero (or Heroine, for that matter). It was messy and it was a mess, to say the least! Looking back, I wish the writers had come up with a better opening.
Season 3 is aptly titled "Villains". This led me to conjure that this season would be about the introduction of new villains with cooler special powers (seriously, flying and healing are such lame abilities) and how Sylar would finally take over the world (to increase longevity of the show). Boy, was I wrong and I was pleasantly surprised with that. This season is about how the good guys are turning into monsters and how the bad guys are turning into angels (FYI - Episode 5 is titled "Angels & Monsters", but do not ask me why the word "monsters" is used as the contrary term to "angels", or vice versa) In this season, you see Dr. Suresh injecting himself with a DNA-altering chemical that gives him superhuman abilities like super strength and heightened senses. But soon, he discovers that there are side effects to gaining this superpowers and he starts killing innocents (for reasons yet still unknown). In this season, you will also see how Peter has to "learn" Sylar's abilities to "save the world". However, with Sylar's abilities comes the hunger/desire to have more and Peter almost ends up killing his mother (by slicing through her head). You will also see how Hiro Nakamura kills his best friend Ando (by stabbing him to death) over the slightest reason - to be included into a gang of some sort. At first I thought the reason Hiro did it so frivolously was because he could go back in time to reverse the process but instead, it was because Hiro staged the whole "dying" in the first place (And, yes, Ando fans, he lives in the end). Most surprisingly of all, you will witness the transfomration of Sylar from a power-hungry maniac to a loving father - He was the one who stopped Peter from killing their mother! (Yes, in this season we learn that Peter and Sylar are brothers, hence explaining the similarity in powers?)
Well, one thing I've learnt from all this is there might be a villain in all of us and there might be something good even in those perceived to be evil. Nothing is at it seems.
