For those of you who are living with the remnants of a "pimpled youth", laser acne scar removal may very well be the solution to revealing your buried beauty beneath the facial scarring you carry due to acne.
Acne scar removal treatment is a minor surgical procedure which can take as little as an hour to perform and successfully removes 60-80% of scarred tissue. With only minimal aftercare required, recipients of this treatment can return to their daily activities and routines directly following surgery. Within 10-12 days, proper care and healing will result in complete recovery and a revitalization of physical appearance.
There are two types of lasers used in the removal of acne-scarred skin tissue. The first of these is called an Erbium(ER) laser which produces a very precise energy wave length. The heat from this laser penetrates the affected area and is quickly absorbed by the skins moisture, leaving the unaffected surrounding areas untouched. The depth of penetration is very precisely controlled allowing the surgeon to completely remove the entire affected are of skin.
The second type used in acne scar removal is a carbon dioxide (C02) laser. The carbon dioxide laser removes the scarred tissue one layer at a time, leaving a layer of fresh skin on the surface .This method involves a highly-focused laser light, very high in energy, which is applied to the affected areas in short, frequent bursts.
Both of these methods of acne scar removal are very patient-friendly. There are minute levels of pain and discomfort (stinging sensation) during treatment, so a topical cream is applied to the area to be treated prior to surgery. If deemed necessary, local anesthetics may be used.
Post-laser surgery treatment is accompanied by a few minor physical discomforts. Patients may experience light swelling or redness of the treated area and notice a slight change in skin pigmentation. Some patients may develop scabs which will fall off naturally if left free of irritation.
For the first six weeks following treatment, extra care of the treated areas must be taken. Refraining from the use of make-up, using a mild soap for washing and applying a healing ointment will greatly aid in and improve the healing and recovery process. Any pain experienced following treatment procedures can be alleviated by applying cooled gel packs or ice packs to the skins surface.
The benefits of acne scar laser removal are unmatched by any other procedure used for treatment of this medical condition. Patients not only benefit from a renewed physical appearance, but the risk of further tissue scarring is greatly diminished.
Those of who have lived with this condition for many years can now completely renew your physical appearance and re-establish higher levels of self-confidence due to a healthier appearance.
