God's Judgment? Who Would Dare Judge Us?!

We think of the natural disasters of the latest hurricanes and tornados, the landslides, the forest fires, and even the torrential rains. Do these signs point to a judgmental God? Why would God judge us in the first place, if He is all-loving? What, if this is His judgment, do we do to rectify the situation, and to ensure we never face such perfidious problems again?

First and foremost, we should recognize that God is a God of wonder, power, love, and - of course, - wisdom. He is so omniscient, that He needs no mystical methods of foretelling the future. Rather, He relies on the various scenarios He has already imagined. It is said that every desert of lies contains a grain of truth in the mix. It also has been said that God knows everything we are about to do, before we do it. Further, God is recognized as the great Author and Artist of all Creation. But, do we ever think of where that knowledge comes from?

For one, it comes from God's ability to see everything, at every time, all at once... and at His leisure. "A thousand years is the same as a day, and a day is as a thousand years," declares the Christ. This obviously means God has the power to just look into one frame of time at a time, and pick out each possible cause and effect, to see what happens as a result of what cause.

For another thing, there is the idea of imagination. The "Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil" was not meant for humanity to partake of it's fruits at their own discretion. Rather, it was meant for humanity to wait until the Lord decided we were ready for that kind of higher thought. What am I talking about? It was the tree of THE KNOWLEDGE of Good and Evil. Essentially, it was a tree to give a person a wild imagination. From that fruit, one could gain an imagination that could concoct any number of possible causes and consequences... both to turn the tide of fate in the favour of good, or to turn it toward evil. With that kind of power at our behest, we could easily destroy the world. God didn't want Adam and Eve eating from it for the same reason God sent examples of His Way (in the form of the Law and the Prophets), before He sent the Key to His Way: the Christ... the reason? Simply to help PREPARE the descendants of Adam and Eve, for the time when they would be ready to use the imaginative powers of the Tree's fruit for good alone... not just for their own short-sighted desires, but for the greater Good of God's Plan.
