Poem: "The Light In The Heart"

The Light In The Heart

Oh, shine a light within the darkened space

Inside my empty heart.

Life seemed so dull and ordinary,

Until seeing you gave it spark.

So I will sing for you.

Oh, take my hand and walk with me;

Let's forget all of our peers.

Share with me your thoughts, and your dreams

Your fantasies and your fears.

And, I will sing for you.

No expectations of what cannot be had.

So will you not take me for a play?

In reluctance I may reach out for you,

So I will not walk away.

Can I play for you?

As I gaze across this smoky room,

I can see your smiling face.

Can it not be me sitting close to you?

How I wish I could take his place.

Do you hear my music sung for you?

So shine your light upon me, so I may see more clearly,

Let's explore this feeling that you give

As it's better to say "We laughed, and we cried",

Than to just wish that we did.

So I write this song for you.
