TV show reviews: Super Bikes!

Dripping with lawsuit potential, Super Bikes on SPEED is sure to grab your attention. No other program covers the world of sport bikes as thoroughly. From bike nights to track days, Super Bikes has it all, including the hot new custom sport bike scene.

The first season saw a dual host format with Rossi Morreale covering the events and schools from a beginner point of view while Jason Britton acted as field correspondent and seasoned professional. Morreale for all of his efforts, never quite clicked with the basic theme and in the second season the show took a turn to highlight more of the stunt bike scene and Jason Britton's travels with his "No Limit" stunt team.

Edgier than ever, there is a reason the opening of the show is filled with a lengthy legal disclaimer. From wheelies on public highways to stopies in the city streets, Super Bikes pushes the envelope when it comes to reporting on what biker's refer to as "hooligan" behavior. In Britton's defense, such shenanigans seem to follow him as local clubs like to show off in his presence. Many bike night events that he covers are hyped up just by the cameras and a celebrity's appearance. Often these gatherings draw several hundred bikers, usually many more than even they expect.

More recent seasons have found the show's popularity earning it more and more invitations. Several episodes have been filmed in Europe and the Caribbean. The No Limit stunt team is also earning more and more invitations to factory sponsored events with their recent switch to Kawasaki sponsorship. Having attended one of their shows in person, I can say that they certain do know how to work the crowd and provide nonstop entertainment.

Britton does an admirable job of acting as show host. Despite being the leader of his stunt team, he still dedicates himself to making sure the show is a quality product. You can see that his schedule is often maxed out yet he still keeps a bright attitude and even does his own work on his stunt bike in his spare time.

Edgy and aggressive, Super Bikes is a full coverage sport bike show that continues to gain popularity. The recent rise in popularity of sport bike stunting ensures a growing viewer base, at least for the foreseeable future. Also, Jason Britton's hard work and natural charisma go a long way towards making this a quality production. If the legal dogs can be kept at bay, the show is bound to have a long shelf life and improve with each new season.
