Childhood dreams often seem far-fetched and impossible to the older onlooker. But not to a child. A child sees a King and thinks "Why can't I be a King? That looks like a pretty fun thing to do." Whereas an older mind sees a King and thinks of all the reason why they can't be a King.
A child sees an astronaut and think "Wow, I want to go into space and land on the moon like them! I want to be an astronaut." Whereas an older mind sees an astronaut and thinks of all the money it would cost and all the training you would have to do to become an astronaut.
A child sees a movie star and thinks "I really like this movie! I want to do what they do! I want to be a movie star!" Whereas an older mind sees a movie star and thinks of how they were just on the news coming out of rehab and how most people never break into the movie industry.
A child sees a castle and thinks "When I get my own house, I'm going to make it a castle with turrets and a mote." Whereas an older mind sees a castle and thinks of how much it would cost and how hard it would be to clean it.
When we grow up, we stop seeing things how they could be and start seeing them and seeing how much money it would cost or how much work it would be. A child imagines and sees how good something is no matter what the cost or how hard it would be to get it. They don't care, they just want it.
It amazes me how much work and money rules how people see things. If only life could be as simple as Childhood Dreams. The truth is, it isn't. But imagine just for a moment - dream, if you will - that money and work didn't rule your life, that they didn't rule how you see things. What if you could continue your Childhood Dreams and just look at things and think "Why not?". What if when you see wars think "Why not end it?" and not think of the cost. What if when you look at someone in need you think "Why not help them?" and not think of the cost. What if when you want to do something that seems far-fetched you think "Why not do it?" and not think of how much it will cost you.
What if we still held onto our Childhood Dreams? How many of us would be in a more interesting job, live a more interesting life, be happier, have less regrets?
Of course, in the world we live, we are forced to leave behind our Childhood Dreams, but how many of us want to? Look at the joy in a child's face. How many of us have that same joy? Could it be to do with their Childhood Dreams?
