What responsibility does the US bear for helping to solve the Iraqi refugee crisis?
I find the question uncomfortable - especially when one has to question who started the hidden operation or war against Iraq. If the war was an eastern issue, the question would not have had a strong connotation to each reader. However, we know that the war in Iraq is an American problem or better said a catastrophic episode for one of the best armies in the world. The question addressed (who should solve the Iraqi refugee crisis) is not an option but the only way to solving the crisis found among the Iraqi people and the rest of the world.
America must work with the Iraqis
Daniel Byman, a news agent for Slate, says that more than 2 million Iraqisfrom a total population of 27 millionhave fled the chaos and the numbers grow every day. (Even more Iraqis have fled their homes but have resettled in other parts of Iraq, thus technically avoiding the label "refugee.") So far, the migrants have clustered in nations close to Iraq, particularly in Syria and Jordan. U.S. efforts to help these refugees have ranged from feeble to nonexistent. [1] The reasons why the Iraqis flee the country is the result of war and instability. This is where both governments should seek to change the factual condition to which they contributes. Both governments must work together is a success could be found at the end of this whole mess. It is another holocaust if the American government is drawing back from sorting out the refugee crisis.
Byman sends a warning about the crisis (in Iraq) which continues to be ignored. `It is both morally abhorrent and strategically ill-advised to abandon these refugees. To state the obvious, the U.S. failure to establish security in Iraq drove them to leave their homes. Literally millions of people have fled under horrific circumstances, and the United States bears much of the responsibility. Americans may, understandably, say that they can no longer sacrifice to bring stability to Iraq, but that does not excuse us from the broader duty to help those who continue to suffer.`[2]. It is right to stress out that failure to protect the refugees is in fact a failure to protect the human rights which are at the foundation of the American constitution and the UN constitution.
America must find realistic solutions
The solutions are many but the recession which hit the American Continent might not support the model suggested by Daniel Byman. He takes us back to a replica used in the past.
