On 3200 acres of land sits Stone Mountain Park. It is located sixteen miles from Atlanta , Georgia, in ,of course Stone Mountain, Georgia. With its size it actually has two addresses, although it is easily accessible.
It's nearly Halloween and for the sixth year Stone Mountain Park is having their Pumpkin Festival. Kids as well as adults enjoy this festivity that runs from October 3rd through October 26th. It goes on from Friday till Sunday so there is plenty of time for family enjoyment.
They have added new attractions this year for the Pumpkin Festival. To name a few there is the Sci Guys Science Show. The Sci Guys love science and it is their goal to interest children into their fabulous world. They make it both easy and fun, so if your child loves science, or even dislikes it, this may be what they need. But be warned, time is running out. As soon as the Pumpkin festival is over so will the Sci Guys Show end. Until next year that is.
Another new attraction is the Sky Hike. This is a summertime experience. You have your choice of a twelve foot trail or a twenty-four foot high trail. Either choice finds you secured to an overhead safety system. There are many trails to explore, so no two hikes are the same. Try your luck on a single suspended rope, or accept the challenge of the wooden bridges, or just climb the net bridges. There are many things to try your luck with.
In November Stone Mountain Park will be having their annual Indian Festival and Pow-Wow. This will be their ninth year for this festival. There will be dance and drum competitions, music, crafts, storytelling, and so much more. A piece of history, culture, and educational besides. This should prove to be fascinating.
Journey to Stone Mountain Park and be a part of their Stone Mountain Christmas. They decorate with over two million lights, but this year will be a new experience. There will be snow angels flying and with them they will bring snow, and fireworks.
Have you ever seen The Polar Express in 4D. Make plans to attend this year for it is on their calender of events for Stone Mountain Christmas, and maybe you should stick around for the Christmas laser show.
Oh I almost forgot. Santa Claus will be there too.
That is only a few of the attractions and festivities that Stone Mountain Park has to offer. It is the perfect place to take children for all the activities I have mentioned, plus more. This park was made for children, but parents will enjoy it just as much.
Check it out sometime, it's open all year long. Hope to see you there.
