The appeal and addiction of role playing games

The appeal and addiction of role playing games, also know as RPG's, is that you are submerged into a fantasy world that you can only experience in a video game. One of the factions of these titles is the experience levels that are incorporated into them. As you advance further along your character, or characters will become stronger in the aspects of their survival skills. Elementally based magicks are another common site in these games which is the fantasy of a lot of gamers. Being able to conduct lightening through thin air upon your own will is a desirable ability.

Dialogue also seems to play an important factor in RPG video games. I have noticed from personal experience that a lot of these games are similar to a soap opera with exaggerated reality. A protagonist with a bad hand of cards but a noble spirit meets a heroine demi-godess who becomes part of your journey which is most likely to save a world. An Antagonist may abduct her or even kill her causing you to feel a dislike for him. The antagonist usually has a strong face with long or no hair and well spoken. You will meet interesting characters along the way who have their own motive for disabling this bad guy from committing an ultimate wrong. There are also save points in the latest games that allow you to save your progress so that you may continue with the same statistics and positions when you are ready to continue playing.

Music is an aspect that I stress as being vital to a successful role playing game. These games usually have digitally orchestrated melodies throughout different cinemas and battles. All forms of stringed instruments and wind instruments are incorporated into most of the latest role playing games. As an example, Final Fantasy VII has some of the saddest melodies I've ever heard anywhere. That is my opinion and may be refuted by the listener, in the respects that music touches everyone in different ways. A successful RPG title generally has music to fit any emotion.

Extended longevity is a common characteristic of many great titles. An RPG goer normally doesn't want a game that they can beat within a week of purchasing. And depending on how much attention you pay to the side missions and finding hidden items it may last for months or even a year. I logged over a hundred and ninety-nine hours into Final Fantasy VII and forty-five hours into Kingdom Hearts. The gamer may also decide to go through the game as quickly as possible which can add an extra element of challenge.

Between traveling between continents or even worlds or galaxies, RPG's definitely have a niche in the gaming industry due to their entertainment quality and musically integrated video clips and missions. They have grown from the 4 kilobyte predecessors of titles such as Tower of Druaga and moved into higher capacity cartridges, and even developed into the high definition performance quality of DVD roms within video games such as Zelda Twilight Princess and Diablo. RPG's will most likely continue for centuries in their own evolved forms to entertain kids, teens, and even the oldest of adult gamers who have a taste for fantasy.
