Chapter 2
The Legend of the Ghost of Lennox Bridge
The class filed onto the bus after having their name marked off. Michael found a seat by himself, seeing how Jake and the rest of his friends hadn't shown up. He stared out the window into a gloomy looking sky, wondering vaguely whether Mrs Robson had chosen such a gloomy day so she could blame the lameness of the excursion on the weather.
"Is anyone sitting here?"
Michael looked up to see Jenny standing next to his seat.
"Um, no," he said, moving his bag from the seat onto the floor.
Jenny plonked down next to him. After a moments silence she said,
"Hello to you too."
Michael who had gone back to staring out the window looked up again.
"Sorry. Hi Jenny!"
Silence followed.
"So, looking forward to the excursion?" Jenny asked purely to break the silence.
Michael shrugged.
"I guess so."
Jenny raised an eyebrow and Michael re-thought his answer.
"I'm hoping it's going to be better than it sounds," he pointedly looked out at the black clouds. "However, it doesn't look promising."
Jenny smiled.
"Much better. See, that wasn't so hard and now I know what you really think."

However the ghost of the guard was trapped within the cold, sandstone blocks. It is said that every time it rains, his blood oozes out of the bridge." Mrs Robson indicated to the clouds. "Perhaps we will be able to witness this today."
Michael groaned in disbelief. Mrs Robson had just tried to turn their already inevitably lame excursion into a campfire story.
"Why did she even bother telling us that?" He whispered. Jenny shrugged.
"I think it's fascinating. Like a piece of history is still lingering around here."
"You don't believe it, do you?" Michael scoffed. Before Jenny could reply, Mrs Robson told everyone to get off the bus and they were swept into a surge of bodies heading for the door.
When everyone was off the bus, Mrs Robson once again addressed the class.
"I want you to go and look closely at the bridge. I'll call you all back here in half an hour to discuss what you have noticed."
With that, the class dispersed into various groups and what
