I am a fifteen year old Christian and my religion is extremely important to me. For one, it gives me a reason to live my life in a way that is pleasing first to God and therefore to others.
Drugs and alcohol is a big issue for teens and being a Christian helps me to be able to choose not to take that path. I want to live accordingly to how God wants me to live and that means not abusing my body or other people, which I would be doing if I took drugs. I don't want to take drugs because then I would get into all sorts of strife that I would normally not want to get into because I know that God doesn't want me to. Christianity also gives me hope and Jesus helps me through difficult times so I can turn to him instead of turning to drugs or alcohol if I am going through a hard time. This is not to say that I don't have to choose not to take drugs. I still have to say 'no' and make that initial choice, however God can help me with that.
Aside from drugs, being a Christian makes everyday life altogether more pleasant. God helps you through everything so it is easier to resist things like peer pressure and therefore stay out of a lot of trouble. It is still extremely hard, don't get me wrong, but I have someone to turn to to help me make the decision.
Religion is very important in a teenager's life, as long as it is their decision and not forced upon them. If something is forced upon a teenager, they are much less likely to want to do it. If the teenager has made a commitment to God and is willing to live by Him, then their life will reflect that - not to mention that they will then have someone to take all the challenges and problems of being a teenager to and who will help them with it.
Religion gives us a set of moral standards to live by and is something that teenagers can believe in when the world is throwing so much garbage at them. It helps them to be able to discern the right thing to do and it gives them straight path to follow in a world full of twists and turns. In a life where there is so much violence and abuse of drugs and alcohol to mention just a few, religion is a way for teenagers to have something and someone who doesn't change, someone who they can talk to and someone who is willing to be their friend.
In a time and age when life can be so confusing for teenagers, religion helps them to stand against the tide and live life in a way pleasing to God.
