Poetry: Meaning of life

by Thomas Cassidy

Created on: October 23, 2008

The world is a mystery for us to solve

Or something to leave and never to know;

We all want truth like a lover to hold

And caress truth so our understanding grows.

But, that would kill the romance of mystery,

Put inquisitive minds to sleep quickly.

If we could retrace our exact history

It would be a bittersweet victory.

What then would our minds worry about?

Or think so deep about existence it hurts.

Would people still pray and religion be around?

Maybe if we knew it would be a curse.

As long as we live and the earth revolves,

The world is a mystery for us to solve.
