Halloween music playlist ideas

The Halloween season is fast approaching which means it's time to find costumes and time to attend or throw a party. The key to any party is music selection. Here's 20 songs essential to any good Halloween party:

20. Addams Family Theme: Easily the most recognizable television show theme. As soon as the duh duh duh duh begins you can't help but sing and snap along.

19. Alice Cooper's Feed My Frankenstein: "Hungry for love and it's feeding time!" No one does scary music better than Alice. This one not only pays tribute to one of the best horror stories ever told but also deals with the icky subject of cannibalism.

18. Donovan's Season of the Witch: "When I look out my window, many sights to see." A nice look at all of the strange people who are around us everyday, particularly this time of year.

17. Charlie Daniels Band's Devil Went Down To Georgia: "The Devil went down to Georgia. He was looking for a soul to steal." One of the only country oriented Halloween songs, this one is full of energy.

16. Rocky Horror Picture Show's
Time Warp: "It's astounding, time is fleeting. Madness takes it toll." The standout track of the cult film, this one is a parody of dance songs. Each Halloween season people flock to local theaters for audience-participation showings of the film.

15. Ray Parker Jr.'s Ghostbusters: "If there's something strange in your neighborhood. Who you gonna call?" Another theme song that you can't help but sing along to. Evokes numerous hilarious images of the movie and it's sequel.

14. Steve Miller Band's
Abracadabra: "I heat up. I can't cool down." This one is unique in it's use of magic as a metaphor for a relationship.

13. Santana's Black Magic Woman: "Don't turn your back on me baby." Santana's unique guitar playing gives this song a haunting feeling that sticks with you after the song ends.

12. The Door's People Are Strange: "People are strange when you're a stranger." Jim Morrison's deep whisper of a voice gives this one the perfect scary feel.

11. White Zombie's I'm Your Boogieman: "I'm your boogieman. That's what I am." A interesting take on the boogieman concept. The song has a seventies' music feel to it.

10. Credence Clearwater's Bad Moon Rising: "Hope you got your things together. Hope you are quite prepared to die" This one is a great look at Armageddon. The song has a bouncy feel and a catchy chorus.

9. Blue Oyster Cult's Don't Fear the Reaper: "All our times have come. Here, but now they're gone." More cowbell! SNL's spoof on the making of this song
