Conspiracy theorists abound. They posit a governmental conspiracy in relation to JFK's assassination, that the moon landing was faked and you also have the 9/11 Truthers. Another group of conspiracy theorists might also claim that there is a vast progressive conspiracy to suppress Christianity.
Some evidence of, if not an organized conspiracy, an interesting trend in the suppression of overt Christianity can be found in many areas of the world around us. What is interesting is that this suppression of Christianity is a trend mostly in the United States, and is an offshoot of our nation's desire to be tolerant and fair to all religions. Of course, as often happens with large, important issues, the pendulum has swung to an extremity which is unacceptable. Mentioning that you are Christian, openly and brazenly, is extremely frowned upon, but we embrace open and brazen expressions of homosexuality. Even from a non-Christian viewpoint, this makes no real sense. Some may argue that it is time for the previously unaccepted lifestyles and choices to have their time in the sun, but is that tolerance? Or a new racism? In any case, evidence of this suppression in the U.S. is growing and at times amusing.
For instance, the MPAA, an iffy organization at best and a group of maliciously ignorant people at worst, now considers any mention of a Christian God or practice worthy of giving that movie which mentions it a PG-13 rating or higher. She's the Man, a recent popular movie was PG-13 as well, but let's look at the explanation for that rating, as released by the MPAA. They say for some crude humor, some innuendo, and implied nudity. However, there is an openly and humorously gay high-school student in that movie. There is no mention of that in the MPAA's rating. He scopes out other men and behaves in a way that makes it obvious he is gay.
When was the last time you saw a movie that had a character who was openly Christian and expressed that lifestyle... without that movie trying to make a point regarding Christianity? And you can be assured that such a movie would be PG-13 or worse.
So... in this case it appears that it is more normal to be openly gay than openly Christian, which is simply and easily proven as false. Studies show that about 3-5% of the American population self-identifies as gay or homosexual. Studies also show that nearly 80% of Americans self-identify as Christian. Now, this dichotomous example is used not to point out some necessarily inherent dispute
