Traveling with your significant other doesn't have to be difficult. Bring along food and water and something comfy to lie on. No, I'm not talking about your spouse; I'm talking about the dog in your life! Once you get the hang of it, dog travel can actually be a pleasure for both of you.

The first thing you should consider when traveling with your dog is a pet travel kennel.

These are inexpensive and easy to put together. Travel kennels are usually vented on every side and the door latch is easy to operate. If you are traveling by airplane, make sure to purchase an airline travel kit. This includes a sticker to place outside of the dog kennel which indicates that there is a live animal inside. It will also include a universal water bowl to put inside the kennel for your dog. Both are required for air travel.

If your dog is a smaller breed, then a dog travel bag might be a better option for you. Unlike a kennel, a travel bag can easily be placed under your seat which should make Rufus quite happy. Pet travel bags have ventilation panels, flaps for privacy, and a shoulder strap for carrying it. There is also a washable liner inside the travel bag for your dog's comfort and pockets for you to store a few things. Pet travel bags are easily accessible from the top as well as the front for even greater convenience. Some bags also have wheels and a detachable handle pull to make toting your beloved easier.

When traveling with your dog, you will need some basic dog travel supplies to take with you. One such item is a portable travel bowl. These travel bowls normally fold flat so you can easily store them in your bag or suitcase. You could also choose to bring a 2 in 1 food/water bowl. This item contains two separate storage compartments which you can fill and take with you; one for food and one for water.

Other dog travel supplies to consider bringing along with you on your trip include your dog's toys such as a ball for him to fetch once you get to your destination as well as something to keep him busy such as a chew toy. Don't forget to bring your dog's leash with you since he will probably want you to take him for a nice walk as soon as you can. Not to mention that most cities have leash laws. Bring some doggie treats as well to praise your dog for good traveling behavior! And don't forget to bring his grooming supplies including a brush/comb, de-tangler, toothpaste and toothbrush and anything else you might use with your dog on a regular basis.
